Chocolate chip cookies are a favorite when it comes to desserts. Every year seven billion chocolate chip cookies are eaten in the US alone. Here are three local bakeries where you can get a chocolate chip cookie for yourself, ranked from good to best:

Tatte is a newer bakery to Wellesley, (165 Linden street, 22-minute walk from Dana and an 8 minute drive) has grown in popularity since its arrival to Wellesley, and its size is usually able to accommodate the large number of customers. It should be noted that they often sell out of cookies later in the day as well as many of their other items. I had to come back when they opened to get a cookie because they were sold out by the afternoon. Their cookies are a medium size and they are baked to be a bit softer, which I enjoyed. The taste however was incredibly salty and there was not enough chocolate to combat this flavor. I thought $3.75 was a bit pricey for a cookie of its size and one with such a disappointing taste.

Quebrada (272 Washington St, a 40-minute walk from Dana or a seven-minute drive) is a medium-sized bakery with plenty of tables to sit and work at while enjoying one of their many baked goods, including their chocolate chip cookie. Each cookie is reasonably sized and costs $1.87. The cookies are baked crisper around the edges but still remain soft in the middle. They’re loaded with chocolate which I really like in my cookies but it was just a bit too much with its already very sugary flavor. I didn’t dislike the cookie but it likely wouldn’t be my first choice.

Located on 542 Washington street (a twelve minute walk and 3 minute drive from Dana Hall), Wellesley Bakery is another notable location for a cookie. The bakery’s interior is very small in comparison to the other bakeries, having only three tables for customers to sit at. Despite the bakery’s small size, its cookies are quite large. Each is cooked a bit crisper although still softer in the middle, which I didn’t think I would enjoy but I did. The cookies were full of chocolate chips but it still managed not to overpower the cookies’ mildly sweet flavor. Each cookie cost $2.15 each which I found to be a reasonable price given the size of the cookie. In addition to being delicious, Wellesley Bakery is a local small business so in buying their cookies you’re helping to support local businesses.
