With its unique culture, constantly warm weather, and various local food stalls, Singapore is the perfect place to visit.

Once you land, you will probably feel incredibly jet lagged for the day, so I planned a day of activities that will keep you awake all day!

First, I recommend going to Jewel Changi Airport Mall, a shopping mall right next to the airport with over hundreds of shops, interactive attractions, indoor gardens and a 40m waterfall. I enjoy the mirror maze, canopy park attraction, and waterfall the most. The mall itself is connected to the airport so it would be an incredibly short walk that will help you ease into the day. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and attractions, this mall is also perfect for photos.

For lunch, take a cab to Newton Food Centre, one of Singapore’s most well-known food centers, to taste Singapore’s local cuisine. I recommend getting Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chilli Crab, or Chicken Satay (chicken skewers), which are some popular local food. This outdoor food centre, although crowded during lunch and dinner hours, is essential if one were to visit Singapore. The liveliness from the people combined with the aromatic smells from the food stalls, is a perfect experience of the Singapore environment.

Afterwards, I recommend going to the National Museum of Singapore, the nation’s oldest museum. With a 19th century colonial exterior and an interior that showcases Singapore’s development since 1887 through artifacts and exhibitions, this museum is the perfect tourist destination to immerse yourself in Singapore culture.

Towards the end of the day, you may have built up an appetite. Take a quick ten minute ride over to an outdoor food stall called Sungei Road Laksa where you could taste an authentic Singaporean spicy noodle dish for just five dollars.

Afterwards, as you walk around the road, you should be able to find an ice cream cart, which serves ice cream sandwiched between pandan flavoured bread or crispy wafers. The flavors of ice cream vary from simple flavors like vanilla and chocolate to traditional flavors like durian or sweet corn. These ice cream carts are all over Singapore so it is really easy to walk by one!

One day in Singapore may feel very short and tiring, but if you spend your time correctly, I guarantee you will have so much fun!
