New York's 5th Avenue, with multiple luxury stores visible in the background, New York, NY, USA.

There’s so much to do in New York City, the buzzing, vibrant city that never sleeps, a short 4 hour train ride from Boston to Grand Central train station, so here’s how to spend a day.

Once exiting the station, I recommend traveling seven blocks north to Ralph’s Coffee Truck (located at E 51st Street and 5th Avenue). This small truck is located in a courtyard across the street from the beautiful St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center, which is buzzing all day. The truck’s atmosphere is lively; with tourists, professionals, and families.

After grabbing coffee, walk the three blocks to the Museum of Modern Art (11 W 53 St) to see the latest exhibits and walk around the beautiful courtyard. After visiting MoMA, you should walk around the shops on 5th Avenue. 5th Avenue has numerous large brand-name stores like Mango, Zara, and more with many beautiful buildings for you to shop and explore.

Once it’s time for lunch, you should head to Serafina (closest one to 5th Ave is located at 38 E 58th St, but they have multiple locations), a small delicious Italian restaurant which was referenced in Gossip Girl multiple times. The cozy environment and delicious food will give you a taste of new york while you eat what tastes like homemade meals.

After lunch, you should head to Circle in the Square (235 W 50th St), a Broadway theatre, to see Romeo and Juliet. This Broadway show stars Netflix star Kit Connor and actress Rachel Zegler. The show features music written by Taylor Swift’s producer, Jack Attonoff; each ticket is around $80 for this 2 hour show, and is running through February of 2025.

For dinner, I recommend one of two restaurants: Monkey Bar (60 E 54th St) or Sartiano’s (147 Mercer St). Monkey Bar is an American restaurant located in Midtown that has a really fun and lively scene. Reservations are hard to get, but once you do, the food is nothing short of delicious and the service is incredible. You enter through a crowded smaller bar and go to a spacious dimly lit restaurant in the back. My other recommendation would be Sartiano’s Italian restaurant at the Mercer Hotel in Soho. This Italian restaurant has simple dishes and more complex ones, all of them excellent.

With endless options for coffee, activities, stores, and restaurants, New York is the perfect place to explore for the day. This crafted itinerary I’ve created for you can help you explore the sometimes overwhelming city with stress-free happiness.
