Dr. Doll is Sailing Far…

It is the end of an era. Dr. John Doll, head of the science department, recipient of the Blair Jenkins Faculty Chair in Math and Science award, and all around beloved science teacher, is moving onto bigger things.

After 14 years of teaching at Dana Hall, Dr. Doll has accepted a position at the Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island. As an alumnus of the school and father of a prospective student, Moses Brown presented an undeniably wonderful opportunity for Dr. Doll and his family, and would allow for his son to receive a private education.

When asked what he’ll miss most about Dana Hall, Dr. Doll said, “that’s very simple. The students. You guys are fantastic and I have enjoyed the people I’ve taught, the kids I’ve coached, just the people in the hallways. Dana Hall has such a wonderful energy… I will miss everything about this school, and I’ve loved every minute of being here.”

Various students of his have expressed sadness in seeing Dr. Doll go. One student said, “I’ll miss him a lot. He is a great Current Topics teacher and an even better person.”

Thank you, Dr. Doll. The seniors of The Hallmanac have officially dubbed you an honorary member of the Class of 2019, so sail on and sail far! We’ll be sailing right behind.
