This year, Dana Hall welcomes Dr. Lindsay Cohen as the new Director of College Counseling, enhancing the College Counseling Department‘s mission of helping students explore what college means to them.
Dr. Cohen has over 25 years of experience in higher education and college counseling in the Greater Boston area. She has taught expository writing at Harvard University and holds a B.A. from Tufts University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in American History at Brandeis University. Before joining Dana Hall she worked at a private college counseling firm in Chestnut Hill, “but [she] missed being in a school setting, which is what brought [her] to Dana Hall.”
She appreciates “seeing all sides of a student, [which] really helps me get to know them and be their advocate.” Students have echoed her supportive approach, with Ginna Allen ‘25 noting that, “Dr. Cohen has done a great job at diving right into Dana…helping [her students] and meeting them where they are.“ Dr. Cohen enjoys the welcoming atmosphere of the College Counseling space and wants to explore new ways to make it even more robust in the future.

Dr. Cohen also has taken the role of being a tenth grade advisor. Among them is Cathy Zhu ’27, who expressed her appreciation, saying, Dr. Cohen “is a wonderful advisor, always very supportive and there for you. She is actually like a parent here which is very important to me as a boarding student very far away from home.”
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Cohen enjoys attending her three sons’ sports games, walking their dog, Nellie, and cooking with her family. She is also a “big sports fan, particularly of the Boston sports teams.”
