The 67th Grammy awards were held on February 2, 2025. The viewership for the Grammys this year was 15.4 million, which is a decline from last year. A major win from the night includes Beyoncé winning Country Album of the Year, becoming the first Black artist to do so, and Album of the Year, after being nominated five times and losing. Beyoncé’s win has caused some controversy and some country fans are not supportive of the win. Beyoncé has spoken out in the past that she has not felt welcome in country music, which is most likely linked to her Country Music Awards (CMA) performance of “Daddy Lessons” with the Chicks.
Shockingly, decades after breaking up, the Beatles won an award for Best Rock Performance. Paul McCartney calls this the “final Beatles record” and that they used artificial intelligence in order to help clean up a recording from John Lennon. The night also included impactful speeches from Chappell Roan, Alicia Keys, and Shakira.
Best New Artist
Chappell Roan won Best New Artist. In her speech she called out record labels and the industry for not “offer[ing] a livable wage and healthcare” for “developing artists.”
Album of the Year
Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter won. This is Beyoncé’s first win in this category, after losing the last four times she was nominated.
Song of the Year
The award went to Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us.” Lamar won the most awards of the night with “Not Like Us” winning five Grammy awards.
Best Pop Vocal Album
Sabrina Carpenter won for Short n’ Sweet and she also won another award for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso.”
Best Dance/Electronic Album
After a successful summer for her album Brat, Charli XCX took home this award.
Best Rock Performance
After breaking up more than 50 years ago, The Beatles won for “Now and Then.”
Best Rap Album
Doechii won for Alligator Bites Never Heal and became only the third woman ever to win this category, following Lauryn Hill and Cardi B.
Best Country Song
Kacey Musgraves’s “The Architect” won this category; she was also nominated for Best Americana Performance, Best Country Album, and Best Country Solo Performance.
Best Country Album
Beyoncé won for Cowboy Carter and was visibly shocked to win, saying “I really was not expecting this.” Beyoncé is the first Black artist to win this category. On Fox News, conservative author Raymond Arroyo called her wins a “ridiculous outcome.”
Best Latin Pop Album
Shakira won this award for her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. In her acceptance speech, she dedicated her award to “all [her] immigrant brothers and sisters in this country.”

Grammy Performances
Performances included Sabrina Carpenter, who sang “Please Please Please” and “Espresso,” Chappel Roan performed “Pink Pony Club,” and Billie Eilish sang her hit song “Birds of a Feather.”
Other artists who performed include John Legend, Shaboozy, and Benson Boone. The Weeknd also made a surprise performance at the Grammys, after boycotting the Grammys in the past.
There was a tribute performance to Quincy Jones, including artists Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monáe, Lainey Wilson, and Cynthia Erivo.
